Verification vs lookup

Employee identity verification vs contact or directory lookup

A directory can help you find a person. Verification answers a different question: is this communication channel currently recognized by the company?

Finding a contact is not the same as verifying authorization

Traditional directories are useful for discovery. Company-scoped verification is designed for trust decisions at the moment of contact.

Directory lookup

Returns a person, role or contact detail that may have been published or synchronized previously.

Company-scoped verification

Checks a submitted email, phone, WhatsApp number, landline or trusted domain against the company-controlled verification scope.

Different outcomes

A lookup asks “who is this?” Verification asks “is this channel currently recognized by this company?”

Privacy-preserving by design

CardIQ Verification Hub is intentionally not a reverse employee directory.

No reverse lookup

Visitors cannot enter an email or phone number and receive the employee name or personal profile behind it.

Organization-level result

The result communicates whether the submitted value matches the selected company’s current verification scope without exposing unnecessary identity data.

Company selected first

Verification remains company-scoped rather than becoming a global people-search service.

Why current status matters

A saved contact or old directory entry can survive long after the underlying company relationship changes.

Role changes

Company-managed identity can reflect updated titles, departments and approved professional information.

Offboarding

Deactivated employees are excluded from active employee verification scope, reducing reliance on stale contact records.

Suspicious communication

A Not Verified result is not proof of fraud. Visitors can report suspected impersonation for company review where that workflow is available.

CardIQ verifies company-scoped professional authorization signals. It does not provide government identity verification and does not expose a public reverse employee lookup.

Frequently asked questions

Can CardIQ tell me who owns a phone number or email address?

No. CardIQ Verification Hub is not a reverse lookup service and does not reveal the employee behind a submitted communication value.

Does Not Verified mean the person is a fraudster?

No. It means the submitted value did not match the selected company’s current verification scope. It is not by itself proof of fraud.
